Benetton Werbung Fake?

Werbung, Freitag 1 Juni 2007 14:04

Dear Jill,

Thank you for you email. I would like to inform you that the images you
are refering to with the logo “Domestic Colors of Violence” are a FAKE and
are NOT an adverting campaign of Benetton Group.

The ONLY project Benetton has done on domestic violence was in 2003,
created and developed by Fabrica (Benetton’s communication research center)
and Colors Magazine (part of the publishing activities at Fabrica). Please
see the attached link for further information
http://www.benetton.com/colorspress/56/.

Thank you for contacting us.

Best regards.

Anissa Nouhi

Guten tag (did I write that correctly!?)! German is not a language I know (though I knew a few others; I’m sorry!) but thanks for picking up my post re: Benetton’s ad. I hope we get to find out who is behind the photos and spreading the campaign. I wonder if its some strange trick to test the blogosphere!

I first saw it on a well-known site for people who follow womens’ issues, called Feministing.com. Typically, that site is very reliable. When I saw it, I immediately started hunting around to see who else was writing about it and all I found was one or two others that linked to Feministing and one that was just a site for ad pictures. I emailed Benetton that night and got the response the next day. In between, I couldn’t find any good contact info for the ad agency, I googled the photographer but couldn’t find any contact info him – but apparently he’s won some Clio awards – at least, the person indicated as having done the pics is a person with apparently some recognition.

You are in Europe – maybe you’ll find out more than me, more quickly!
